He says, sitting down in front of me 

    “perhaps he was just a raft….”

and he looks at me now as he says, 

“to bring you to shore so that —you meet me….perhaps that’s all he was capable of but…. what if I can actually …. see you? ….you are even more beautiful in person than you appear in your photos.”
